Grand Street Businesses Work to Reduce Food Waste

Too Good To Go, a food waste prevention app is making waves across New York City and Grand Street businesses are getting in on the action. We’re proud to say there are currently six businesses in the Grand Street BID that are participating in the organization’s broad-reaching initiative to end food waste. Look out for Ozzie’s Fresh Market, Mercadito by Eleva and Portenas, Los Primos, Grand Morelos, Rome to Brooklyn, and Taste of Jerusalem. They’re using the Too Good to Go App to distribute their leftover food that would otherwise be thrown out, at a discounted price. Our businesses have joined over 75,000 others who partner with Too Good to Go to help achieve their mission.

You can support the participating Grand Street businesses by downloading the app and purchasing the surplus food they are offering. Get in on the action, and prevent food waste at the same time. Food products distributed are usually a miscellaneous assortment of the daily surplus and changes daily. As the app increases in popularity, we hope to see more restaurants and neighbors in our district and the surrounding neighborhood joining in.
